Position: Revenue Accountant
The Revenue Accountant will focus on establishing best-in-class revenue recognition processes and serve as the subject matter expert on revenue accounting rules (ASC 606). This role serves as a key partner across accounting, finance, sales, and operations by reviewing customer contracts, supporting complex revenue transactions, and delivering timely financial reporting and analysis. The Revenue Accountant manages revenue-related close activities, reconciliations, internal controls, and process improvements while providing insights that support forecasting, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of revenue reporting, supporting audits, and driving scalable accounting processes as the business grows. This hybrid position will be based at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon, with 2–3 days per week in the office and the remaining time remote. The role reports to the VP & Global Corporate Controller.
Revenue Accountant Job Duties:
- Manage revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 by analyzing contracts, identifying performance obligations, determining transaction prices, and allocating revenue accordingly
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations for revenue, deferred revenue, billing, and related balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile billing systems, accounts receivable subledgers, and related revenue accounts to the general ledger; investigate and resolve variances
- Prepare revenue, gross margin, and variance analyses, including explanations of key drivers and reconciliations to bookings, backlog, and forecasts
- Collaborate with FP&A on revenue forecasts for complex transactions and on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning activities
- Support billing and collections to ensure accurate accounting for invoicing, credit memos, returns, and refunds
- Maintain and improve SOX-compliant internal controls over revenue processes; document policies and procedures and support internal and external audits
- Identify and lead process automation and continuous improvement initiatives within ERP, billing, and revenue accounting processes to improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Prepare revenue-related KPIs, metrics, and ad hoc analyses to support operational, commercial, and executive decision-making
- Research and apply technical accounting guidance related to revenue recognition, including evaluating the accounting impact of new products, pricing models, and contract structures
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and revenue testing samples
- Fosters strong interdepartmental collaboration to enhance responsive customer service, timely issue resolution, streamline processes, and support shared business goals
- Other duties/projects as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, revenue accounting principles, and internal control frameworks, including SOX compliance
- Experience reviewing and accounting for customer contracts, including evaluating performance obligations, transaction pricing, and revenue recognition impacts
- Advanced proficiency with ERP, billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Auditing experience
- Ability to interpret technical accounting guidance and apply it to complex business transactions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
- Big 4 audit experience
