Purpose of the Role:
You have a passion for financial reporting and accounting with a desire for learning the business within a manufacturing and R&D environment in an emerging industry. As the Accounting Co-op, you will be responsible for general accounting activities including performing calculations, reconciliations, journal entries and administrative tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- You have successfully completed of introductory accounting course (100 or equivalent) and ideally the intermediate accounting course (200 or equivalent).
- You have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to understand numerical data.
- You have great written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- You have basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Bonus Skills and Qualifications:
- You have completed Finance and tax courses.
What Success looks like in this role:
- You will assist team with the month-end close process.
- You will help with the preparation of account reconciliations.
- You will assist with calculations and journal entries.
- You will review of invoices and purchase orders.
- You will support the reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
- You will collaborate with various departments, including P&C, Legal, Operations, Corporate Development to gather information for the financial records.
