Purpose of the Role

As the Machine Structure Design Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the design and engineering of commercial scale Rotary Adsorption Machine (RAM) product, specifically focusing on structural elements such as the rotating structure and a variety of stationary structure elements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

You have combination education & experience either: Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience or technologist with 8-10 year of relevant experience.

You have excellent knowledge of metallic materials, structures, manufacturing and joining techniques from traditional to leading edge technologies.
You have excellent grasp of first principles in mechanics of materials, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
You have P.Eng or EIT designation in BC, or eligible to apply for such designation.
You have knowledge of structural steel design codes such as CSA S16 or AISC 360, FEA methods and limitations.
You have demonstrated ability to create 3D CAD and 2D manufacturing drawings.

What Success looks like in this role

You will evolve concept designs into prototype and production designs using a combination of digital CAD design, simulation and physical testing.
For a sample design task, you will ensure requirements, methods, acceptance criteria, and purpose are clear, timeline is agreed upon, and then diligently deliver a design or analysis suitable for the task.
You will assess new technologies delivered by the Core Product Technology Team for the impact of geometry or configurations changes.
You will conduct basic BOM management and liaise with both Svante supply chain and external vendors to ensure the correct quantity of good quality parts are delivered on time.
You will produce documentation for engineering calculations developed to validate a design, engineering drawings and/or assembly documentation to enable clear manufacturing instructions.
