Purpose of the Role:

As the Director, Health, Safety, Environment, Community (HSEC), you will implement and maintain an environmental health and safety program involving hazard identification evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and environmental regulatory compliance. You will be accountable to create and maintain a culture of visible Health & Safety leadership and project execution excellence to represent the core values of Svante to internal and external channel to market partners. You will also interface with all departments and ensure Svante is in compliance with all Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have 5+ years experience as a Senior Leader in HSEC, with 10-20 years experience in manufacturing, laboratory, construction, or engineering technology environments.
  • You have education and certifications in HSEC that ensure implementation of HSEC Best Practices, culture of safety as everyone’s responsibility and compliance in every jurisdiction where Svante operates.
  • You have ability to exercise broad judgment within generally defined practices and policies.
  • You have proven ability of working collaboratively with leaders and influencing change.
  • You have strong customer service skills, including ability to build credibility and trust.
  • You have excellent team leadership skills, with proven track record of employee development and mentorship.

What Success looks like in this role:

  • You will create the Annual HSEC Operations Plan that achieves Safety Vision, aligns with company safety core values, and meets company business goals.
  • You will operationalize the HSEC Plan through leading the HSEC team, and all programs, processes, policy and other means in service of a culture of safety as everyone’s responsibility.
  • You will provide HSEC leadership, training and operational support to all levels of the organization and across all functional groups.
  • You will maintain excellent relationships across all departments to ensure effectiveness of HSEC Plan, listening to customer needs and building leader capabilities to ensure safe work practices are in place throughout the organization.
  • You will establish systems for regular auditing, measurement and reporting of HSEC Goals and KPIs. Ensure high worker safety across the organization.
  • You will work closely with Engineering, Construction & Facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.
