Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as a Lab Manager for our Material Science Characterization Lab.

As a Lab Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lab, managing lab resources, and ensuring smooth functioning of all lab activities. You will also ensure the accuracy and reliability of the characterization results, standardize/document test procedures, data management, and storage and prepares reports, presentations, manuscripts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have a BSc or higher degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field.
  • You have over 5 years of experience in a research laboratory, preferably within an R&D environment, in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • You have demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
  • You possess strong knowledge of analytical techniques essential for CO2 capture research, including sorption/sorbent characterization through methods such as porosimetry, electron microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, gas adsorption, elemental analysis, chromatography, X-ray analyses, and surface analysis methods.
  • You are proficient in computer applications and software relevant to laboratory management and data analysis.
  • You have knowledge of CO2 capture technologies, including absorption, adsorption, membrane separation, and chemical conversion processes and knowledge of materials science, porous materials, polymers, and metal-organic framework.

What Success looks like in this role:

  • You will oversee all aspects of R&D day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory management and adherence to experimental & safety protocols to ensure accurate and reliable experimental results.
  • You will participate in method development, optimization & validation and experimental uncertainty analysis.
  • You will develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab activities & optimizing processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety regulations.
  • You will conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, implementing corrective measures as needed to mitigate hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • You will manage the lab budget effectively, overseeing procurement activities and expenditure tracking to ensure alignment with project priorities and financial targets.
  • You will foster a collaborative environment within the lab and facilitate communication between research teams and other stakeholders (e.g., product development, prototyping, and manufacturing teams).
