Description

The Role

This is not a desk job. The BioMethane Operations Manager owns the real-world execution of landfill and biogas projects—from startup through steady-state operations. You’re the connective tissue between Engineering, Production, landfill owners, and what actually happens on site.

If systems need to be designed right, built right, operated safely, and documented cleanly—this role owns it. Especially where environmental compliance and carbon credit integrity are on the line.

What You’ll Own

  • Full day-to-day operations of assigned landfill/biogas projects.
  • Project execution from commissioning through stable operations.
  • Safety, uptime, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
  • Cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Production, and Field teams.
  • On-site leadership with landfill owners and operators.

What You’ll Do

  • Own daily operations for active biogas and landfill projects.
  • Plan and execute operational activities to hit safety, uptime, environmental, and financial targets.
  • Lead schedules, risk management, and issue resolution alongside Engineering and Production.
  • Ensure operations readiness for new installs, expansions, and upgrades.
  • Partner with Engineering on design, constructability, and operational feasibility.
  • Provide field feedback to improve reliability, safety, and maintainability.
  • Align build schedules, commissioning, and deployment with Production.
  • Act as the primary operational point of contact for landfill owners and site operators.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, regulations, and site agreements.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead safety planning, incident response, and corrective actions.
  • Enforce operational discipline that supports defensible carbon credit generation.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and verification.
  • Support third-party audits and credit validation reporting.
Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years experience in the landfill industry.
  • 3+ years project management experience in industrial or energy environments.
  • 3+ years operations experience in regulated, field-based roles.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership (Engineering, Production, Field Service).
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and regulated operations.
  • Carbon credit or environmental data program experience is a plus.

How You Show Up

  • Willing and able to travel up to 50%, domestic and international.
  • Strong operational judgment—you know when to escalate and when to solve.
  • Comfortable leading in the field, not managing from a spreadsheet.
  • Organized, disciplined, and detail-oriented without losing the big picture.
  • Clear communicator with technical teams, customers, and regulators.
  • High ownership mindset—projects don’t stall on your watch.

Work Environment

  • Mix of office, landfill sites, and industrial facilities.
  • Outdoor work and exposure to rotating equipment.
  • PPE and strict safety compliance required in the field.

Why This Role Matters

This role directly impacts safety, environmental compliance, system performance, and carbon credit integrity. If you like owning outcomes, solving real problems on-site, and operating in high-accountability environments—this is your lane.
