Job Summary: The CMM Technician operates a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), which is used in factory production to take precise measurements. The CMM Technician will ensure that the measurements are within specification before releasing the product to manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Zeiss CMM machines using Calypso software to perform precise measurements and inspections; programming experience preferred.
- Work with Engineering to Interpret drawings and specifications to develop measurement plans.
- Conduct first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections of components and assemblies.
- Analyze measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibrations of CMM equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and measurements.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a CMM Technician, experience with Zeiss CMM machines and Calypso software preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities when required.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing for extended period and occasionally lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
- Requires regular use of computers.
