Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation, conducts daily instrumentation maintenance execution activities, ensuring safe, quality work practices are maintained while maximizing availability of equipment across the facility. This position is located in Brownsville, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proactive safety attitude at all times.
- Always uses safe work practices and follows NextDecade lifesaving rules and permitting processes.
- Maintains a high focus on safety and wellbeing of execution team, leads by example to set and maintain a positive safety culture of compliance and continuous improvement for Apprentices and Contractors
- Engages and communicates effectively with all maintenance disciplines as required, not just the Instrumentation team, including Electrical, Mechanical, Plant Services, Planning, Engineering, Specialist Vendors and Contractors upholding the One-Team approach
- Initial support and continued review of Preventative & Corrective Maintenance Plans aligned to the equipment selected for this facility.
- Participate in the reviewing of maintenance documentation, such as Work Instruction’s, Job Safety Analysis, Permitting, red lining of documents.
- Participate in the Instrumentation maintenance execution activities of all breakdown, corrective and preventative maintenance in the facility
- Provide support to the leadership of the Turnaround Team prior and during Turnarounds
- Responsible to safely complete all assigned activities to a high standard
- Perform Permit Holder requirements for the execution of work at RGLNG
- Maintain personal training and competency compliance.
- Actively participate in all the required maintenance execution meetings, including HSSE meetings, pre-starts, work allocation tasks, tailgates and toolboxes etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical degree in Industrial Maintenance Instrumentation or similar and NCCER preferred.
- 5+ years LNG Export Facility experience in an Instrumentation Maintenance Execution role or 10+ years' experience in LNG/Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industries.
- Competent for all Instrumentation Maintenance activities.
- Competent at interpreting Engineering Drawings and Documentation i.e. P&ID, ISO, GA, Logic, Control Narratives, Cause & Effect, Loop & Wiring, etc
- Must have experience with the testing and inspection of Safety Critical Elements (SCE), Statutory and Federal Regulatory compliance.
- Experience in GOAL setting and performance management.
- Experience and working knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP or Similar)
- Experience working with and red-lining critical Maintenance procedures.
- Good working knowledge of an Management Of Change (MOC) process.
- Experience in maintenance activities during Turnarounds.
- Relevant Instrumentation LNG maintenance experience including Integrated Control & Safety Systems (DCS / SIS), PLC’s, Flow Computers, analyzers, gas turbines, fire & gas detection systems, control valves, anti-surge control, and field instrumentation is a must.
- Ability to Obtain NFPA 70E qualification
- Experience with Instrumentation Equipment in Hazardous Classified Areas
- Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) equipment isolations in accordance with Permit to Work Systems and processes.
- Must be experienced in writing/reviewing Work Instructions
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, and CMMS/database applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to work.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to support on-site emergencies
Work Environment & Physical Demands (with or without reasonable accommodations)
- Operates in a complex construction and industrial environment.
- Work is performed both indoors (in a controlled indoor environment using computer systems such as DCS) and outdoors in the field, often under challenging weather conditions for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear all mandatory/necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions safely.
- Must be physically capable of moving throughout all areas of the facility, including being capable of traveling to a designated muster point during emergency situations.
- Must be able to clearly communicate, in the English language, with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
- Regular exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, humid and windy environments
- May involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and other typical industrial hazards
