SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Maintenance Technician, Electrical, conducts daily electrical maintenance execution activities, ensuring safe, quality work practices are maintained while maximizing availability of equipment across the facility. This position is located in Brownsville, TX.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a proactive safety attitude at all times and strictly follow NextDecade Life Saving Rules and permitting processes.
- Lead by example in promoting a positive safety culture of compliance and continuous improvement across Apprentices, Contractors, and peers.
- Engage and communicate effectively with Engineering, Operations, Safety, Procurement, Training, Planning, and Vendors, reinforcing a strong One-Team approach.
- Support the development, review, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance plans.
- Review maintenance documentation, including Work Instructions, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Permits, and assist with red-lining updates to technical documents.
- Perform and participate in electrical maintenance execution activities, including breakdown, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
- Provide electrical maintenance support during Turnarounds as required.
- Fulfill Permit Holder responsibilities in accordance with RGLNG’s Permit to Work (PTW) process.
- Maintain personal training and competency compliance.
- Actively participate in HSSE, pre-start, tailgate, and maintenance coordination meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5+ years of hydrocarbon or petrochemical facility experience in an electrical maintenance execution role.
- Licensed Electrician in Texas (or ability to obtain via TDLR).
- Current Low Voltage Rescue and Resuscitation certificate.
- Qualification or competency aligned to NEC Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) inspections and repairs.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and documentation (P&IDs, Isometrics, GAs, Logic Diagrams, Control Narratives, C&E Matrices, Loop/Wiring diagrams).
- Experience in testing and inspecting Safety Critical Elements (SCE) and ensuring statutory and federal compliance.
- Experience with CMMS systems (SAP or similar).
- Skilled in red-lining critical maintenance procedures and working within an MOC process.
- Experience in maintenance activities during Turnarounds.
- Hands-on experience with electrical equipment in hazardous areas, fault finding, lighting, MCC maintenance, UPS/back-up systems, LV systems, and High/Medium Voltage systems.
- Demonstrated ability to perform Electrical Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) on MCCs, motors, pumps, and compressors per PTW system requirements.
- Ability to support commercial building electrical maintenance (offices and facilities).
- Experienced with Permit to Work systems and writing/reviewing Work Instructions.
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, and CMMS/database applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to work.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to support on-site emergencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS (with or without reasonable accommodations))
- Operates in a complex construction and industrial environment.
- Work is performed both indoors (in controlled environments using systems such as DCS) and outdoors, often under challenging weather conditions for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear all mandatory PPE required to perform job functions safely.
- Must be physically capable of moving throughout all areas of the facility and reaching a designated muster point during emergency situations.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English—verbally, via radio, and by phone.
- Regular exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, humid, and windy environments.
- May involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and other typical industrial hazards.
Job Site Work Environment
· Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
· Operates in a complex construction environment.
· Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
· Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
· Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
· Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
· Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

· Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.

· The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
· Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
· Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
· May be required to enter confined spaces.
· May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
