By combining emissions reduction associated with our carbon capture and storage project, responsibly sourced gas, and our pledge to use net-zero electricity, Rio Grande LNG is expected to produce a lower carbon intensive LNG for the world.

JOB SUMMARY

Field Operator Level-A (FO) ensures safety and efficient operation of the Rio Grande LNG facility. Responsibilities include site inspections, equipment adjustments, preparing equipment for maintenance, and supporting activities for optimal plant performance. Effective communication with team members: Board Operator (BO), Control Room Supervisor (CRS), Supervisor ISBL (ISBL FS), and Production Shift Manager (PSM) regarding equipment status is essential.

The FO must demonstrate competence in starting/stopping, troubleshooting, and isolating field equipment. A solid understanding of key processes and equipment, including operational tasks specific to LNG plant operations, is required. The FO plays a crucial frontline role at RGLNG, interfacing directly with stakeholders from various disciplines (Maintenance, Engineers, HSSE, C&P), contractors, and vendors. This necessitates completion of leadership, HSSE, and specialized soft skills training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE)

  • Adhere to RGLNG HSSE standards, Life Saving Rules, and Process Safety Fundamentals
  • Follow operational procedures for troubleshooting, safe equipment start-up, and shutdown.
  • Participate actively in safety meetings, inspections, and pre-job safety meetings.
  • Monitor all activities in the designated area, ensuring compliance with RGLNG's permitted operating guidelines.
  • Execute safety tasks in alignment with Permit to Work (PtW)

Plant Activities-General Operation

  • Collaborate closely with BO, offering guidance on critical tasks.
  • Work seamlessly with other FO to maintain smooth operation of the entire complex.
  • Proactively monitor all plant equipment to quickly identify changes to equipment health and promptly communicate concerns to the BO and ISBL FS
  • Must possess the ability to read, understand, and interpret P&IDs, PFD’s, control narratives, Cause & Effect Matrices, Operating and Maintenance Manuals (OMM), equipment schematics and related documentation.
  • Create a detailed shift log to be thoroughly communicated, in person, with oncoming FO
  • Identify and analyze threats/opportunities to plant performance and productivity, communicating these to the ISBL FS, and the Day operation team.
  • Conduct approved process/equipment adjustments within design parameters to mitigate threats or optimize operating parameters, escalating constraints to the ISBL FS, and BO
  • Adhere to RGLNG safety & production requirements, including Start of Shift Orientation (SOSO) to familiarize oneself with the current state of plant, jobs, and procedures.
  • Create quality work orders (WO), actively reviewing and amending WO’s as needed.
  • Maintain unit cleanliness by overseeing maintenance/contractors ensuring the adherence to cleanliness standards.
  • Manage consumable resources in the work area, including utility hoses and process chemicals.
  • Develop minor maintenance skills to perform MMBO (Minor Maintenance by Operations)
  • Lead safety initiatives during field walkdowns and operator rounds, providing intervention comments as needed.
  • Demonstrate safe execution of permitting activities within area of control, including system and equipment isolation, and proving zero energy for maintenance as per established procedures and work instructions.
  • Train new shift team members to build competency.
  • Collect all samples as per schedule as well as when directed by ISBL FS/PSM
  • Perform field testing of equipment as required.
  • Complete and maintain required training and certifications per job competency profile.
  • Ensure own technical competencies in assigned work areas are maintained through the Competency Development and Assurance process.
  • Progress through and maintain competency across all working units of the facility in alignment with agreed progression plan.
  • Work a rotating twelve (12) hour Shift System, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasionally work extended hours for plant requirements such as commissioning, start-up/shutdown, and turnarounds, following RGLNG fatigue management procedures

Plant Activities – ISBL Operation

  • Monitors ISBL parameters in the field to identify potential issues and opportunities for improvements in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on laboratory testing to maintain operating parameters within limits and correct deviations as needed.
  • Assess and promptly address risks related to process deviations and equipment abnormalities.
  • Follow the schedule for plant start-up and shut-down activities taking into consideration maintenance, equipment availability, and safety protocols.

Plant Activities – Abnormal Plant Situations and Troubleshooting

  • Adhere to troubleshooting procedures to ensure safety for individuals, the community, the asset, and the environment.
  • Execute duties according to the Emergency Response Team’s plan.
  • Respond to emergencies as directed by ISBL FS/PSM, using established protocols.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and training.
  • Provide guidance and insights to peers troubleshooting abnormal plant situations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve complex operational and technical issues.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams diagnosing process and maintenance issues.
  • Assist in developing operational lessons learned and share applicable industry insights with the RGLNG teams.

Plant Activities – Supporting Activities

  • Represent RGLNG professionally and uphold core values when communicating with contractors and other units.
  • Mentor junior operators to foster their skills and professional growth.
  • Help develop and implement shift training plans for continuous learning and development.
  • Create an inclusive environment for shift members, providing technical and operational coaching.
  • Guide daily work prioritization to meet department and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure all operating procedures (work instructions and checklists) are always adhered to.
  • Complete and ensure accuracy of start-up, operational, and maintenance procedures and related paperwork, suggesting adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in preparing unit-specific documents like isolation plans and operating procedures for maintenance activities.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of turnaround, breakdown, mini-outages, and improvement projects as assigned by PSM and Production Day team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in LNG operations at a large-scale facility, ISBL section
  • Ability to get a Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)Time Management and effective communication skills
  • Adaptability to manage changes in work environment, adhering to updated deadlines or unexpected delays.
  • Computer literate including proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3 years’ experience in ISBL at a large-scale facility utilizing APCi C3MR technology

Work Environment & Physical Demands with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Operates in a complex construction environment.
  • Work is performed both in an office with computers including DCS, and in the field in sometimes challenging weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear all mandatory/necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
