SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Environmental Coordinator plays a crucial role in obtaining environmental approvals and ensuring environmental compliance. The primary purpose will be to work collaboratively within the Regulatory and Environmental team to deliver quality outcomes and to adhere to regulatory standards. Other duties may include assisting in auditing, assisting in the preparation of presentations and technical reports, as well as interpretation of data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Environmental Coordinator is charged with performing a wide array of tasks related to environmental compliance and management. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with permit application development (or similar documents), including gathering supporting documentation.
- Providing support and coordination for field work conducted by contractors.
- Creating technical documents and provide quality assurance/quality control review of technical documents that support regulatory submissions.
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of environmental and regulatory training program.
- Create, maintain, and track department data and dashboards (metrics and Key Performance Indicators tracking).
- Coordinating and implementing Regulatory and Environmental Management processes.
- Preparing reports for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing administrative support for compliance documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum/preferred experience for the position:
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Experience with compliance management systems to track and trend compliance tasks and commitments is preferred.
- Preferred experience on FERC regulated projects.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position:
- Strong interpersonal skills required, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills (English language).
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve non-routine issues.
- Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet critical deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional regulatory interpretation and application skills.
Required/preferred education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration or similar qualification.
Work Environment
- Office; however, occasional travel to Site will be required.
- Must be able to wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment to perform job functions.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
- Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
- Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
- Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.
- Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
- The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
- Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
- Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
- May be required to enter confined spaces.
- May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
