SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

NextDecade Corporation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Power Supply to join our Commercial team. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of our power origination strategy, focusing on identifying, negotiating, and structuring power purchase agreements (PPAs) and related arrangements for up to 600 MW.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to development of a comprehensive power origination strategy in alignment with NextDecade's overarching business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Develop risk and 4CP management strategies to manage variable power loads and pricing scenarios.
  • Identify and evaluate potential power generation projects, including solar, wind, and other emerging technologies, to diversify NextDecade's energy portfolio.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of power purchase agreements (PPAs) with third parties.
  • Collaborate with NextDecade’s QSE (Qualified Scheduling Entity).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Legal, Finance, Engineering, and Project Development to ensure seamless execution of power origination initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the power sector to inform decision-making and optimize opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners, and key stakeholders to support business development efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum/preferred experience required for the position:

  • 8+ years of commercial and/or business development experience in the energy industry.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in power origination, energy trading, power project development, or related roles within the energy industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and closing power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy projects.

Minimum/preferred knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • Deep understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and financial modeling principles.
  • Good working knowledge of the ERCOT power market (physical and financial).
  • Strong analytical and risk management skills with the ability to assess risk and opportunity in dynamic market environments.
  • Strong negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proven track record in developing client relationships.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and with various internal departments.
  • Possess a strong sense of initiative and a commitment to delivering excellence in a team environment.

Required/preferred education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or related field.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/fax, filing cabinets, etc.

This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift.

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as required in order to lift files, boxes and office equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to open filing cabinets and bending, standing on a stool, or climbing as necessary to perform these functions.
